When it comes to musical franchises, it’s hard to hold a candle to the absolute earworms that Disney’sDescendantshave gifted us since its debut in 2015. And with The Rise of Red now streaming on Disney+, we have even more bangers to add to our rotation.
But which bops are tops? There are almost no skips in the series’ entire catalogue, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still play favorites, so we decided to give the tracks another spin and declare our love for the very best.
A few notes before we get into our ranking: Only songs from the four main films —Descendants(2015),Descendants 2(2017),Descendants 3(2019) andDescendants: The Rise of Red(2024) — are eligible for this list. That means you won’t find any songs from theWicked Worldanimated series or theRoyal Weddingspecial. And even among the first four movies, a song has to be featured as part of a full performance in order to qualify, so bops like “Shuffle of Love” will have to sit this one out. We’re also excluding reprises and remixes, as they’re just extensions of other songs, so tracks like “What’s My Name” and “Life Is Sweeter” will only show up once.

‘Be Our Guest’
We get that a cappella was enjoying a resurgence when the first Descendants movie came out, but this cringefest was far from pitch perfect.
‘Do What You Gotta Do’
When push comes to shove, this father-daughter duet just doesn’t do it for us.
‘You and Me’
This is a perfectly serviceable finale to the second movie, but when compared to the rest of the Descendants catalogue, it doesn’t exactly hold water.
‘Evil Like Me’
Look, we’d lay down our lives for Kristin Chenoweth any day, but Maleficent is a villain — not vaudevillian.
‘Did I Mention’
There’s no denying that this tune is R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S-ly catchy, but knowing that Mitchell Hope doesn’t actually sing it kills some of the magic for us.
‘Set It Off’
This one feels likeDescendants’ version of a “Friends for Change” song, and you can’t tell us otherwise.
‘So This Is Love’
It could be argued that this Brandified reimagining of a timeless Disney duet deserves a higher spot on our list — but it couldalsobe argued that it deserved more than 42 seconds of screen time.
‘Space Between’
Every Descendants movie needs a good ballad, and this friendship anthem makes for an undeniably beautiful duet — or trio if you count Mal’s bangs as their own character, which we absolutely do.
‘Break This Down’
We’ll say what everyone’s thinking: It’s a miracle that no one fell off that bridge doing all that choreography. These kids are fearless!
‘Get Your Hands Dirty’
Not only does this adorable mother-daughter duet teach a valuable lesson about the importance of hard work, but much like Chloe’s wig, it’s surprisingly layered.
‘Fight of Our Lives’
We’ll tell it to you straight to your face: this song slaps. It also give us Selena Gomez and the Scene vibes, which is fitting given that Chloe’s hair has plenty of blue going on.
‘My Once Upon a Time’
We have to deduct a few points for wonky lyrics (“And no, it’s not your father’s hair on fire”?!), but it’s impossible not to be charmed by the power of Mal’s majestic mix.
‘If Only’
We could do without the flashbacks to moments we saw literally two minutes earlier, but there’s simply no denying the beauty of Mal’s voice on this pivotal ballad.
‘It’s Goin’ Down’
On paper, a rap battle between the daughters of Maleficent and Ursula sounds like complete nonsense. But like most things in the Descendants universe, it totally works if you’re willing to go with the flow.
‘One Kiss’
After three movies, Evie was long overdue for a spotlight song of her own, and she finally got it with this feel-good ditty. How Doug managed to sleep through the whole thing, we have no idea.
‘Perfect Revenge’
We had a feeling we’d love this one from the moment the villains started voguing, but like the song’s lyrics suggest, we truly had no idea what was about to hit us.
‘Chillin Like a Villain’
Not even Ben’s corny one-liners could put a dampen on this banger. From Evie’s vocals to Jay and Carlos’ moves, we have absolutely no chill with this one.
‘Red’
The Rise of Red may have been a soft reboot for the Descendants franchise, but this introduction to the movie’s titular princess goes hard.
‘Night Falls’
Not only was this song good enough to unite Mal’s crew and Uma’s squad, but we had no idea that suits of armor could move their hips like that. Three words sum up our reaction to this one: “Oh. My. Gosh.”
‘Rotten to the Core’
Disney Channel began production on the first Descendants movie back in 2013, and that year is written all over this Skrillex-style track. The song that introduced us to the VK’s will forever hold a special place in our hearts, as well as our music library.
‘Good to Be Bad’
This boy band-ready bop is so darn good, it makes us want to raise our V’s up high and wave ‘em high, side to side — whateverthatmeans.
‘Love Ain’t It’
She may be the epitome of evil, but the Queen of Hearts took us to church with this gospel number.
‘Ways to Be Wicked’
Name another song in the Descendants catalogue good enough to make Belle drop it low. Go on, we’ll wait.
‘Life Is Sweeter’
In a movie loaded with earworms,Rise of Red’s anthem about the power of kindness is hands down the wormiest. Is anyone else craving cupcakes right now?
‘Queen of Mean’
Queen of Mean? More like Queen of Pop. And don’t just take our word for it — 460 million satisfied YouTube users can’t be wrong!
‘What’s My Name’
Uma’s arrival inDescendants 2was a game-changer for the franchise, and this Rihanna-esque bop was the perfect song to introduce her. The fact that it’s the only song to be fully featured in two separate films speaks for itself.
